Hey readers! I don’t usually like making TBR posts because I feel like I never stick to them, but I decided to try one this month to see how I go! I have a pretty mixed bunch picked out for November– 2 non-fiction, 2 adult fiction, 2 young adult fiction and 1 romance! I read 7 books in October so I’m hoping to read around the same in November too! I’m also around halfway through Girl of Paper and Fire and probably won’t be able to finish it by the end of October, but I didn’t include it in my actual tbr since I’ve already been reading it for about a week.
Books I Want to Read in November
» Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel
Station Eleven is one of the books on my End of the Year Reading List that I haven’t gotten around to reading yet, so I’m hoping to read and finish it in November! I’ve had this on my tbr for what feels like forever and I bought it just after Christmas last year so I’m kind of hoping I can finish it before then. From what I’ve heard about Station Eleven, I think it will easily become one of my favourite books of all time. Fingers crossed!
» The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness by Michelle Alexander
This book combines two of my favourite things: criminal and social justice. In The New Jim Crow, Michelle Alexander explores the notion that the U.S. criminal justice system acts as a contemporary system of racial control. I studied criminology for a year at university back in 2016 and one of the first things we learned about was the history of racism and the criminal justice system, and its role in systemic racism today. However, I’m from Australia and we have a vastly different criminal justice system than America, I’m very excited to delve into this and hopefully learn some new perspectives.
» It Takes Two by Jenny Holiday
I read One and Only earlier in the year and really adored it, but I haven’t continued the series yet. I loved the cast of characters the first book introduced and I’ve been excited to read Wendy and Noah’s story ever since! I’m hoping I find this one as cute and funny as the first!
» The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden
This book is one that I think I’m either going to love or hate. I’m hoping I love it because I’ve already bought and own the second book in the series (lmao). I am generally very picky when it comes to whimsical, magical writing, but so many reviewers I love and trust have adored this book, so I think it will probably work for me! This was also one of the books on my 5 Star TBR Predictions so I can’t wait to read it and see what I think!
» Trail of Lightning by Rebecca Roanhorse
I bought this on a whim a couple of months ago and I feel like I’ve been hearing nothing but great things since I bought it. Trail of Lightning is an ownvoices book by a Native American writer. Reflecting on my reading habits of the last year has made me realise I have not read a lot of books by or about Indigenous people this last year and that’s something I want to rectify. Trail of Lightning first drew my attention when I found out it was a post-climate apocalyptic novel that featured gods and monsters. This honestly sounds right up my alley and I’m hoping to love it.
» Eloquent Rage by Brittney Cooper
I’ve been hearing really great things about this lately and I jumped to place a hold on it when I saw it on my library’s catalogue. All I really know about this book is that it’s feminst af and Brittney Cooper explores black women’s rage as a powerful source of energy. Very excited to delve into this one!
» Pride by Ibi Zoboi
This is another book I’ve been hearing non-stop great things about lately! Pride is a Pride and Prejudice retelling, and though I’ve never seen nor watched the original, I’m still really excited to read this. I have yet to read Zoboi’s 2017 release (even though it’s been on my kobo since it released. *shame on me*) but I’ve heard great things about her writing and characters so I’m keen to read this and see what I think!
Those are the 7 books I’m hoping to get to in November. I’m very much a mood reader, but I’ve tried to keep this a very broad tbr with a bunch of random stuff to try and see what I’m in the mood for! I’ll definitely be reading both of my non-fiction picks this month, for Non-Fiction November and also because one is a library book.
If you’ve read any of the books on my tbr, come tell me your thoughts on them! If you’re interested in reading any of them in November as well, I’d love to buddy read one!
Thanks so much for reading!

I totally get you on being unable to stick to a tbr! I’m also hoping on reading Pride in November, though I’m not sure on whether I would need to read Pride and Prejudice.

From what I’ve heard, it’s not necessary to read P&P first!

I’m such a mood reader as well! I’m planning on reading Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman, but I’m totally unsure beyond that. I’d like to get to Jack of Hearts (And Other Parts) by L.C. Rosen and Red Seas Under Red Skies by Scott Lynch, though.
